The scoop is I just finished reading The Burnt Orange Heresy. It’s a 70′s noir novel about a Florida Art critic taken to the dark side. It’s being made into a film . I’m curious to see what they’ll do with it. It had it’s moments for sure. Description is not the writer’s forte I would say.
Another book I’m trying to dig into is Art School. Dense but current. The art world has changed dramatically and so it seems, should the schools that teach ‘the unteachable’. So much to do, so little time. Let me know what you think. peace

today’s new art topic life etc.
I’m doing more research for my new script and started reading The Cultural Cold War by Frances Stonor Saunders. It’s a very dense book beginning at the end of WWII . It charts and analyses the US government’s covert involvement in the Arts to win the hearts and minds of Europeans and Americans. It is very enlightening and makes me look at today’s art world in a new light. Some artists were used and after they caught on for some it was too late. In particular what interests me will be the take on some of my heroes the Abstract Expressionist painters that were heavily favored in the 1950s. Another interest of mine is Encounter magazine. Interesting stuff for artists and the like.
